The Arboriculture Intern will learn first-hand how Mt. Cuba Center’s arborists manage an extensive collection of trees located in the gardens and natural lands.
Experience an internship at Mt. Cuba Center, a premier botanic garden that inspires an appreciation for the beauty and value of native plants and a commitment to protect the habitats that sustain them. Summer internships follow a full-time schedule (40 hours/week) from May 31, 2022 through August 12, 2022. Year-long internships follow a full-time schedule (40 hours/week) May 31, 2022 through May 12, 2023. The pay rate is $12/hour. Optional free housing is provided onsite at Mt. Cuba Center.
The Internship experience provides:
- Applied work experience in a specific area of study
- Professional networking and mentorship opportunities
- Education related to native plants and ecological horticulture
- Field trips to local horticultural destinations
The three positions detailed below are available for one year:
The Marketing & Communications Intern will participate in developing, implementing, and analyzing marketing and communications strategies that promote Mt. Cuba Center’s programs, visitation, and membership.
The Native Plant Curation Intern will explore all aspects of living collections management and will offer a rare opportunity for an individual to gain insights into the skills required for professionals in the field.
Summer Internship Opportunities:
The Horticulture Summer Interns will gain hands-on fine gardening skills, develop a broad understanding of ecological gardening practices and learn how a top tier public garden manages complex and dynamic plantings.
The Greenhouse & Research Intern will participate in all aspects of greenhouse operation, plant propagation, and growing techniques to assist in the production of native plants in our indoor and outdoor growing facilities.
